The European Union thinks it necessary to continue dialogue with Russia on the situation in Ukraine while simultaneously bolstering its own defense, Head of the European Council Charles Michel said.
In an interview with France’s TF1 TV channel excerpts of which were published on his Twitter page on Sunday, Michel criticized Russia’s special military operation in Ukraine. "However, it is necessary to continue dialogue with Vladimir Putin since he is in the Kremlin," the European official stated noting that at the same time it is necessary "to actively boost the defense of NATO’s eastern flank."
Michel reiterated that the EU would continue to assist Ukraine in every way, including in the military sphere.
