Azerbaijan’s KOBIA joins UN Global Compact initiative

Azerbaijan's Agency for Small and Medium Business Development (KOBIA) has joined the United Nations Global Compact, which is the world's largest corporate sustainability initiative, AzVision.az reports.

As a participant of the UN Global Compact, the agency will continue to contribute to the global sustainable development strategy by aligning its strategy and activities with the relevant principles of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), as well as supporting the development of SMEs and the creation of new entrepreneurial entities.

Considering that the year 2024 was declared the "Year of Solidarity for the Green World" in Azerbaijan and the country will host the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29), the agency will increase its focus on environmental issues and promotion of green economy in its activity and work on SME support.

The UN Global Compact is a global initiative that brings together more than 20,000 business and non-business signatories based in over 160 countries. The UN Global Compact is a call to companies to align their strategies and operations with ten universal principles related to human rights, labour, environment and anti-corruption, and take actions that advance societal goals and the implementation of the SDGs.
