Azerbaijan’s CEC Chairman meets with TURKPA delegation

Mazahir Panahov, Chairman of Azerbaijan's Central Election Commission (CEC), met with Ahmet Zenbilci, head of the TURKPA delegation, who is in Azerbaijan to observe the upcoming snap parliamentary elections, AzVision.az reports. 

Panahov highlighted the strong relationship between Türkiye and Azerbaijan, marked by deep affection, fraternity, and alliance. He shared that over 600 international observers and 112,000 domestic observers are monitoring the election process. To ensure transparency, 1,000 polling stations across the country have been equipped with webcams, allowing for continuous online observation on Election Day without the need for registration.

The CEC Chairman emphasized the active involvement of political parties and civil society institutions in the election observation. He also noted that 6,478 polling stations have been established across the country, with 6,343 being permanent and 135 temporary. Additionally, 2,471 locations have been fitted with ramps for disabled voters. Three organizations have applied to conduct exit polls during the early elections.

Panahov mentioned that this election marks the first time parliamentary elections will be conducted across Azerbaijan's entire sovereign territory. In the recently liberated territories, 54 polling stations have been established to enable over 42,000 voters to participate in the elections. A total of 990 candidates are competing for parliamentary seats.

Ahmet Zenbilci expressed his satisfaction with participating in the observation of the elections to the Milli Majlis and praised the fact that elections are held for the first time in the liberated territories. He also emphasized that Azerbaijan has demonstrated democracy to the world and expressed confidence that the elections will be conducted successfully.
