A series of events dedicated to 8 March - International Women's Day were held with the participation of families of Martyrs, female servicemen, state servants and civilian workers serving in the Azerbaijan Army, the Ministry of Defense told reporters.
At the beginning of the events, the memory of National Leader of the Azerbaijani people Heydar Aliyev and Shehids (Martyrs) who sacrificed their lives for the independence and territorial integrity of the Motherland was honored with observing a minute of silence. The National Anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan was performed.
The congratulations of the Minister of Defense of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Colonel General Zakir Hasanov were conveyed to the participants of the events.
The speakers noted that the activities of female servicemen serving in all types of troops, special military educational institutions and military medical institutions of the Azerbaijan Army, as well as civilian workers, are always highly appreciated. The speakers wished female servicemen and civilian workers success in their future service and personal life.
It was highlighted that the Azerbaijani women take an active part in a large number of major projects that are successfully implemented under the leadership of First Lady of Azerbaijan, First Vice-President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Mehriban Aliyeva and are aimed at preserving our national-spiritual values, traditions and the development of the idea of humanism.
Then the participants were presented with flowers and holiday gifts.
As part of the events, concert programs with the participation of the teams of the Separate Exemplary Orchestra of the Ministry of Defense, the Army Ideological and Cultural Center named after Hazi Aslanov, and the Ganja Garrison Ideological and Cultural Center, as well as regional cultural departments were presented.
