Paris Climate Talks Likely to Be Extended Till Saturday - EU
EU chief negotiator for climate Elina Bardram said that the 21st UN Climate Change Conference (COP21) in Paris could be extended.
The Paris climate talks are likely to continue for at least one day longer than originally scheduled, as the negotiators want a comprehensive deal, EU chief negotiator for climate Elina Bardram told Sputnik on the sidelines of the 21st UN Climate Change Conference (COP21) in the French capital, Thursday.

"No," Bardram said when asked if the talks would finish on Friday, adding, "I hope they do, we should be hopeful of finishing tomorrow, but prepare for finishing maybe on Saturday."

"What is really important is that we get a deal that is fit for future, not the fact that we get [to do] Christmas shopping earlier," she stressed.

The French capital is currently hosting the COP21, due to end on December 11.

Representatives of over 190 countries are expected to reach an agreement to address global warming and cut carbon emissions, introducing a legally binding and universal strategy on the issue, which is due to replace the 1997 Kyoto Protocol.
