Weapons and ammunition that are assessed as available for combat are being collected from general education schools in Azerbaijan.
Chief of the preschool and general education department of the Ministry of Education Aydin Ahmadov said in his statement to APA only the weapons and ammunition that are assessed as available for combat are being removed from schools in order to prevent accidents.
According to him, these measures do not apply to the weapons and ammunition meant for training purpose, not combat: “In this regard, the Ministry of Education has received a letter signed by the minister of interior affairs. Based on that letter, education departments were sent letters, and they in turn informed local authorities of removing weapons and ammunition from schools. If there are weapons and ammunition available for combat at any school, district police departments along with education departments compile an act in that regard and collect them”.
