Turkey sacks almost 600 colonels
Turkey has dismissed 586 colonels, TRT Haber news channel reported Aug. 23.
This decision was made at the Turkish Supreme Military Council’s meeting, which was held on Aug. 23 under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Binali Yildirim, according to the report.

This is the second meeting of the Supreme Military Council after the July 15 military coup attempt in Turkey.

It was also reported that the service term of 434 colonels has been extended for additional two years.

Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has approved the decision of the Supreme Military Council, according to the report.
