3 police officers killed in explosion in Turkey`s Diyarbakir - VIDEO, UPDATED
Three police officers were killed on Jan. 16 in an outlawed Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) bomb attack targeting an armored police vehicle in the Sur district of the southeastern province of Diyarbakır, the Diyarbakır Governor’s Office has announced.
The blast occurred in the evening hours when PKK militants remotely detonated a hand-made explosive during the passage of the police vehicle near the Dicle University’s campus area.

According to initial examinations, three police officers were killed and another three were wounded in the attack.

The governor’s office stated that the two of the wounded police officers were in a critical condition.

The police shuttle also overturned due to the impact of the blast.

Ambulances and rescue teams were immediately dispatched to the scene after the blast while the wounded police officers were taken to the Dicle University hospital.

In addition, some vehicles, including a public bus, passing near the scene were also damaged in the blast.

Separately, PKK militants also detonated another hand-made explosive in the southeastern province of Şırnak during the passage of a construction vehicle in the afternoon hours.

Five people who were wounded in the attack were taken to the Şırnak State Hospital but were reported to be in a stable condition.

According to the NTV television channel, the incident occurred at 13:30 GMT during the demolition of a building in the Sur area, where the Dicle University campus is located.

The cause of the explosion is unknown yet.

The condition of some injured people is serious.

Ambulances were reportedly arriving at the scene.
