"I wish to propose creating a special panel of inquiry in parliament uniting all factions. The probe will decompose those prices to the molecular and atomic level. It will scrutinize each accounting document. It will show you what everything consists of and it will produce the correct price," Timoshenko said on the 112 television channel, adding she would like to lead the inquiry herself.
Earlier, a national commission for government control of the energy and utilities made a decision to raise the lowest price of natural gas for households by 230% The increase was one of the IMF’s lending conditions.
Timoshenko was Ukraine’s prime minister in February-September 2005 and also in December 2007 through March 2010. For sometime she was considered as one of Ukraine’s wealthiest business persons. In October 2011 she was convicted and sentenced to seven years in jail for abusing powers in concluding gas contracts with Russia in January 2009. She was released from prison in February 2014 under a Verkhovna Rada resolution.
