Uzbek President receives ministers of defense of CIS Member States

As part of the 75th meeting of the Council of Defense Ministers of the member states of Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) held in Tashkent, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received defense ministers.

Minister of Defense of Azerbaijan, Colonel General Zakir Hasanov also attended the meeting.

The President of Uzbekistan welcomed the ministers and emphasized that the meeting of the Council of Defense Ministers of the CIS member states is held in Tashkent for the first time. This indicates that Uzbekistan has laid the foundation for a new stage in the activities of the CIS.

The head of state stressed that over the past year Uzbekistan has actively cooperated in such areas as economics, energy, science, innovation, the fight against crime and other spheres.

The meeting addressed issues of further expansion of military and military-technical cooperation between the CIS countries, as well as focused on the issues of bilateral and multilateral activities in this area, including the professional training of military staff.

During the reception, a wide exchange of views on international and regional policy issues, including security and stability was also held.

The ministers of defense conveyed greetings and best wishes of the heads of their states to President Shavkat Mirziyoyev. They hailed the ongoing large-scale reforms in Uzbekistan, as well as the modernization of the Armed Forces, ensuring security and stability in the region.
