President Donald Trump announced billions of dollars in private sector investment Tuesday to build artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure in the US.
"We're starting off with tremendous investment coming into our country at levels that nobody's really ever seen before," Trump said in the Roosevelt Room at the White House on the first full day of his second term in office.
Trump said OpenAI, SoftBank and Oracle will form a joint venture called Stargate.
"That's a massive group of talent and money together. These world-leading technology giants are announcing the formation of Stargate...A new American company that will invest $500 billion at least in AI infrastructure in the United States...creating over 100,000 American jobs," he added.
The president also said he will help facilitate the project "a lot through emergency orders."
