Azerbaijan’s Deputy FM holds series of meetings in Geneva to explore prospects for cooperation

An Azerbaijani delegation led by Elnur Mammadov, Deputy Foreign Minister, visited Geneva from February 23 to 26 to participate in the High-Level Segment of the 58th Session of the Human Rights Council.

During the visit, Deputy Minister Mammadov addressed the high-level segment of the UN Human Rights Council and held several high-level bilateral meetings. These included discussions with Guatemalan Foreign Minister Carlos Ramiro Martínez Alvarado, Sri Lankan Foreign Minister Vijitha Herath, Maldives Foreign Minister Abdulla Khaleel, Nepalese Foreign Minister Arzu Rana Deuba, Vice-Minister of Multilateral Affairs of Costa Rica Alejandro Solano Ortiz, and Executive Director of the OIC Independent Permanent Human Rights Commission (IPHRC) Noura bint Zaid Al-Rashoud.

The meetings focused on prospects for bilateral and multilateral relations, the current regional situation in the post-conflict period, ongoing reconstruction efforts in Azerbaijan’s liberated territories, peace initiatives, and Azerbaijan's Presidency of the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29).

Discussions also included opportunities for collaboration within the COP29 framework and other issues of mutual interest.
