"It has to be continuous threat from the spread of nuclear weapons, nuclear materials that can fall into wrong hands. I know that terrorists are constantly seeking it and that is why we have to stand vigilant but also united around the world to prevent that," Hillary Clinton told the first Democratic presidential debate in Las Vegas on Tuesday night.
Former Maryland Gov. and Baltimore Mayor Martin O`Malley considers "the nuclear Iran,” spread of the Islamic State and the climate change as the main threats to the country.
According to former Rhode Island State Governor Lincoln Chafee, "it’s certainly the chaos in the Middle East," that "started with the Iraq invasion.”
Senator Bernie Sanders, Clinton’s main challenger for the Democratic presidential nomination, also considers climate change as the main challenge for the country`s future while former US Senator Jim Webb lashed out at Chinese cyber-attacks on the United States.
"Our greatest long term strategic challenge is our relations with China. Our greatest day-to-day threat is a cyberwar against this country," Webb said.
He added that the "greatest military operational threat" for the United States is "resolving this situation in the Middle East."
