Brussels suicide bomber worked at city`s airport for five years
Najim Laachraoui, a jihadist who blew himself up at the Brussels airport in a Daesh-coordinated attack on the city in March, appears to have worked at the facility for five years, Belgium TV reported.
According to VTM News Channel, the 24-year-old worked at the city airport until 2012. It’s is unclear what job Laachraoui had, but it was reported that all airport personnel backgrounds are checked before being granted access badges.

The investigation unveiled that Laachraoui, a former electrical engineering student, prepared explosives in his apartment for both the Brussels bombings and the Paris attacks, the channel noted.

There has been no official comment on the reports.

AFP had previously revealed that Laachraoui worked as a cleaner at the European Parliament between 2009 and 2010.

Belgian prosecutors announced that Laachraoui joined Daesh during a trip to Syria in 2013.

The assertion is based on a report that Laachraoui was caught by police returning to Belgium two months prior to the Paris attacks. He was detained on the Austria-Hungary border, along with the only surviving Paris attacker, Salah Abdeslam.

The March 22 Brussels attacks, targeting the city’s airport and a metro station, killed 32 people. The November 13, 2015, Paris attacks killed 130 people.
