“Such reports are ungrounded,” the statement said. “The agreements signed recently between Turkey and Egypt are in the stage of coordination in line with the schedule. The agreements, which already came into force, remain active.”
In early July, the Egyptian army deposed former President Mohamed Morsi, who narrowly won the country`s first free presidential election last June with 51.7 percent of the vote.
The removal of Morsi, whose current whereabouts remain unknown, came followingmass nationwide protests against the rule of the Islamist president. In mid-July Turkish Prime Minister Erdogan slammed the military coup in Egypt as “illegitimate.”
