Exports of electricity from Azerbaijan to Turkey increased in 2021, says Energy Minister

In the first 11 months of 2021, electricity exports from Azerbaijan to Turkey increased to 517 million kilowatt-hours, said Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov at the 1st Azerbaijani-Turkish Energy Forum in Baku, AzVision.az reports.

"Currently, the global energy sector is experiencing a process of transformation due to climate change. Targets are developed at the national level, taking into account global energy trends. It became a pressing issue to increase efforts of making contributions to regional cooperation in the field of electricity", Parviz Shahbazov stated.

Shahbazov stated that the prospects and projects for the export of electricity from Nakhchivan to Turkey, the development of a tripartite format in the field of electricity, as well as the proposals of Turkish companies on the project of 550 MW gas turbine power plant, are being evaluated.
