Baku comments on French presidential candidate’s illegal visit to Azerbaijan’s Khankendi

Anyone who disrespects the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan is declared personae non gratae by Baku, Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov told journalists on Monday, AzVision.az reports.

Commenting on the recent illegal visit of French presidential candidate Valérie Pécresse to the Azerbaijani territory, where Russian peacekeepers are temporarily deployed, Minister Bayramov said it was part of the political process in France. "However, we must understand that this is an internal issue of French policy."

The minister added that those who illegally visited Azerbaijan’s Khankendi city together with the French presidential candidate have already been declared personae non gratae by Baku.

On December 22, Valérie Pécresse, President of the Regional Council of Ile-de-France and a presidential candidate from the Republican Party, illegally visited the Azerbaijani city of Khankendi. For this reason, the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry sent a note of protest to France.
