New tunnel connecting Turkey to the Caucasus to be opened on December 29

On December 29, a new car tunnel connecting Turkey with the countries of the South Caucasus will be opened, TRT Haber reported.

President Recep Tayyip Erdogan will attend the ceremony via video conference.

The length of the Pirinkayalar tunnel, which will connect the Uzundere district of Erzurum province with the Artvin city, is 2,246 meters.

The construction of the tunnel sarted in 2017. The tunnel will facilitate traffic, connect Eastern Anatolia via the Erzurum-Artvin route to the Eastern Black Sea, and Turkey through the Caucasus via Georgia.
