Azerbaijan continued to contribute to Europe’s energy security in 2021 – Foreign Ministry

Azerbaijan continued making contributions to Europe’s energy security in 2021, the country’s Foreign Ministry said in a newsletter on the results of the year, AzVision.az reports.

This year, work has been done to develop bilateral economic cooperation between Azerbaijan and various countries, attract foreign direct investment to the country’s economy, explore the possible participation of foreign companies in the restoration process in the liberated Azerbaijani territories and promote new areas of cooperation in the non-oil sector, said the newsletter.

“The importance of the East-West, North-South and South-West international transport corridors and routes, the Zangazur corridor, as well as regional transport and infrastructure projects in terms of strengthening the transit-transport potential of our country, was promoted from various platforms,” the newsletter said.

The ministry stressed that thanks to the full commissioning of the Southern Gas Corridor in 2021, Azerbaijan, by supplying gas to Italy, Greece and Bulgaria, continued to contribute to the energy security of these countries and the European Union as a whole.
