EU spokesman comments on latest situation on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border

The incidents on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border confirm the need to take measures to build confidence between the countries, Spokesman for the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Peter Stano wrote on his Twitter page.

“Latest exchange of fire on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border with reported deaths and wounded reconfirms the necessity for a distancing of forces and confidence building measures. EU is working with both sides to promote a comprehensive settlement of the conflict,” his tweet reads.

The Azerbaijan Army’s long-term active military serviceman, soldier Nazarov Ayaz Azer was killed as a result of the provocation committed on January 11 by the Armenian armed forces in direction of Kalbajar district of the Armenia-Azerbaijan state border.
