NATO plans to continue broad practical cooperation with Azerbaijan in coming period

NATO looks forward to a continued high-level political dialogue and broad practical cooperation with Azerbaijan in the coming period, said a NATO official, AzVision.az reports citing Trend.

“During his recent visit to the region, the NATO Secretary General’s Special Representative for Caucasus and Central Asia Javier Colomina met with a range of Azerbaijani officials. He reviewed NATO-Azerbaijan cooperation, including the resumption of cooperation with the Azerbaijan authorities within the Planning and Review Process partnership framework,” said the organization’s representative.

As for the situation in the South Caucasus, the NATO official noted that the Alliance hopes to see steps towards a normalization of relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan.

“Armenia and Azerbaijan are both valued partners of NATO. We urge the sides to avoid actions that could result in a resumption of violence. Unresolved issues should be settled diplomatically. We welcome that there is dialogue taking place, both within the Minsk Group process and outside this framework. We hope to see steps towards a normalization of relations between the two countries,” added the Alliance representative.
