Armenia’s highway runs through territory of Azerbaijani village – PHOTOS

The 3.7-kilometer section of the highway connecting the cities of Gafan and Gorus in western Azerbaijan runs through the remains of Eyvazli village, destroyed by Armenian invaders. This village can be considered the closest settlement of Azerbaijan’s Gubadli district to Armenia.

The Bazarchay River flows through the administrative territory of the village, which was divided into Upper and Lower Eyvazli parts at the beginning of the last century. In 1993, the village was occupied by Armenian terrorist groups and razed to the ground.

At present, Azerbaijan’s border and customs checkpoints are set up on the highway passing through the village of Eyvazli, and a modern filling station is operating.

We hope that in the near future the residents of Eyvazli will be able to return to their native lands and revive this heavenly place...
