Georgia's former Gov’t administration head appointed new FM

Ilia Darchiashvili, the former Head of the Government Administration, has been appointed the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili announced on Monday in a press briefing, AzVision.az reports citing the Georgian media.

The PM said Darchiashvili would take over the work from David Zalkaliani, who has been appointed Georgia’s Ambassador to the United States.

I would like to thank Mr. David Zalkaliani for his work. He has vast experience, has been serving our country in various positions for 30 years. During these 30 years, he has participated in practically all important [Government] decisions,” Garibashvili said at the Government Administration.

Darchiashvili is a graduate of Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University, and holds a Master’s degree in Business Administration from the Grenoble Business School in France.
