The conference, co-organized by the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ICESCO) and the State Committee for Work with Religious Organizations of Azerbaijan, along with Azerbaijani Embassy in Morocco, focused on discussions highlighting importance of peaceful coexistence, mutual respect and religious tolerance.
Key topics of the conference also included enhancing dialogue and collaboration between religious leaders, politicians and religious scholars, as well as promoting interfaith understanding and sharing best experiences to combat religious intolerance.
Dignitaries present at the conference included influential scientists and intellectuals of Azerbaijan and Morocco, as well as religion experts from Egypt, Libya, Tunisia, Italy, England and other countries.
Describing peaceful coexistence as fundamental to building a harmonious and thriving society, the speakers highlighted the importance of the conference as a crucial step towards further developing cooperative, constructive and sustained interaction between people of different religions.
The conference then featured an exhibition themed "Common human values and different religions", highlighting photos related to the traditions of tolerance in Azerbaijan, the historical and cultural monuments of Shusha, which was declared the capital of the Islamic world for 2024 by ICESCO.
