  Azerbaijani energy minister holds several meetings in Türkiye

On the sidelines of the Istanbul Natural Resources Summit, Azerbaijani Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov held meetings with Turkish Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Alparslan Bayraktar, Iraqi Deputy Prime Minister and Oil Minister Hayan Abdul-Ghani Al-Sawad, Syrian Minister of Energy Muhammed Al-Bashir, and Somali Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Dahir Shire Mohamed, AzVision.az reports.

According to the Azerbaijani ministry, during the meeting with Minister Alparslan Bayraktar, satisfaction was expressed with the existence of broad and systematic cooperation between Azerbaijan and Türkiye in all areas, including oil and gas, electricity and renewable energy. The importance of transmitting 250 MW of electricity to Türkiye via Georgia was noted. The implementation status of the Azerbaijan, Georgia, Türkiye and Bulgaria Green Energy Corridor and other joint energy projects was assessed.

The 4th Azerbaijan-Türkiye Energy Forum, scheduled to be held in the Turkish city of Izmir in September, was discussed, and it was also agreed that the Turkish minister would participate in the Baku Energy Week in June.

At the meeting with the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Oil of Iraq, Hayan Abdul-Ghani Al-Sawad, it was emphasized that the historical relations between the two countries have created a basis for the development of cooperation in the energy sector. During the conversation, views were exchanged on the current state of oil market regulation within the OPEC+ format. The importance of signing the “Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation in the Oil and Gas Sectors between the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Ministry of Oil of the Republic of Iraq” was noted. Priority projects for the development of bilateral energy cooperation were reviewed.

At the meeting with the Minister of Oil and Mineral Resources of Somalia, Dahir Shire Mohamed, discussions were held on the implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in the green energy and oil and gas sectors, as well as the training of specialists in the oil and gas sector, and potential areas of cooperation.

Within the framework of the event, a meeting was also held in Türkiye with the Minister of Energy of Syria, Muhammed Al-Bashir. The meeting assessed the opportunities for the development of cooperation relations between the two countries in the energy sector.
