Armenian Opposition bloc to appeal to court to declare election results invalid
The opposition Armenian National Congress (ANC) and People’s Party of Armenia (PPA) election alliance filed an appeal to the Constitutional Court to demand that the April 2 parliamentary election results be declared invalid, ANC parliamentary faction secretary Aram Manukyan told reporters at the National Assembly.
According to Manukyan, the appeal also includes the newly-leaked audio recording, in which employees of Republican Party MP Artak Sargsyan’s SAS Group are being pressured to bring in votes for the ruling party.

“The package is quite extensive; we have video recordings from 2000 polling stations which show how people are being forced to vote for the ruling party. If we have resorted to appealing to the Constitutional Court then the crimes must have been obvious: there were threats, there was use of administrative resources, people were being control, they were given bribes. At least 5-6 articles of the criminal code were violated.” the ANC secretary said.

Note, the alliance had earlier also appealed to the Central Election Commission to annul the election results. The appeal, however, was denied on April 9.
