Azerbaijan and Iran discussed expansion of military cooperation
Azerbaijan is interested in developing military cooperation with Iran, said Azerbaijan’s Defense Minister Colonel General Zakir Hasanov.
Minister of Defense of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Colonel General Zakir Hasanov met with the Minister of Defense of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Brigadier General Hussein Dehgan in Tehran on April 16.

After visiting the memorial complex of martyrs, the Azerbaijani delegation paid tribute to the memory of shehids and laid a wreath at the monument.

Then the official meeting took place.

During the meeting of the delegations of the two countries held in an expanded format, the sides discussed the prospects for expanding military, military-technical cooperation and exchanged views on regional security and other issues.

Zakir Hasanov noted that the recent meetings of the Azerbaijani and Iranian leaders created the necessary conditions for the development of military cooperation.

“Azerbaijan attaches great importance to ensuring the security of the two countries’ borders and will never allow their violation," the minister stressed.

Congratulating his counterpart on Iran’s National Army Day, Hasanov called for lasting peace, stability and security in the region.
