The Trans-Anatolian Natural Gas Pipeline (TANAP) project transported 5.1 billion cubic meters of natural gas to Turkey in the first 11 months of 2021, said Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov in his speech at the 1st Azerbaijani-Turkish Energy Forum.
Parviz Shahbazov stated that the total number of transported natural gas to Turkey was 7.7 billion cubic meters in the first 11 months of 2021.
Shahbazov highlighted that in 2021, the countries renewed the natural gas contract on Shah Deniz-1 and under this contract, a total of more than 10 billion cubic meters of natural gas will be exported to Turkey by the end of 2024.
"Currently, the sides are seeking to expand their cooperation by achieving the supply of natural gas from Turkey to Nakhchivan. According to the document signed in December 2020, a pipeline with a capacity of 500 million cubic meters per year and 1.5 million cubic meters per day will be built from Igdir to Nakhchivan. This will boost energy security by diversifying Nakhchivan's gas supply", he added.
