Azerbaijani servicemen explain details of how they captured Armenian saboteur
Officers and soldiers of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces have explained details of how senior sergeant Arsen Bagdasaryan, an Armenian saboteur, was taken captive on December 26, 2014.

Bagdasaryan was taken captive by Azerbaijani servicemen Sharif Valiyev and Faig Ahmadov, The Azerbaijan Army newspaper reported.

Armenian saboteur Bagdasaryan and his companions were on a mission to commit diversion on the Azerbaijani side, officer Samad Mammadov said of the incident.
“However, our fighters detected them in time, preventing a possible diversion. As for Bagdasaryan, our brave servicemen Sharif Valiyev and Faig Ahmadov captured him right at the scene,” Mammadov added.

Serviceman Zabit Valiyev said that during the interrogation the Armenian saboteur initially lied.

“I was on my way to check the outposts as usual. It was December 26. There was silence around. First I checked the left posts. Everything was all right, there was nothing extraordinary. All of a sudden, we heard excited voice from soldier Parviz Shikhaliyev, who was on combat duty at the moment. I informed the headquarters right away and took up my gun. I went forward with officer Faig Ahmadov beside me. I saw someone wearing civilian clothes trying to flee. It was the same direction in which our Air Defense Troops had shot down an Armenian helicopter. “Don’t move!” I shouted at him in a loud voice. He was startled in panic, uttering something in Armenian, which I did not understand. I shouted the same thing, this time in Russian. The Armenian lay face down on the ground. When we interrogated him, he told us he was a shepherd, introducing himself as Vazgen Grigoryan, and saying he had lost his way,” said Valiyev.

Officer Faig Ahmadov said they discovered three landmines placed 2 meters away from one another as they were probing the area with sappers. “Out of pure luck, no one hit those mines during the probing. It seems they had sought to take revenge on our soldiers for the downed helicopter,” Ahmadov added.

The other two Armenian servicemen managed to escape from capture.

Note that, the captured Armenian saboteur was charged under several articles of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan. The Ganja Court on Grave Crimes has sentenced him to 15 years in jail under Article 66.3.
