Baku 2015 to help get to know Azerbaijan better - French MP
Azerbaijan, having organized by the European Games in a record short time, demonstrated its abilities to Europe, Jean-Francois Mancel, a member of the National Assembly of France, told on June 11.
Jean-Francois Mancel said that the representatives of France will join the other 6,000-plus athletes at the European Games.

"This attractive country of the Caucasus [Azerbaijan], which is still little known in France, organized the European Games in record short time, thereby demonstrating its abilities to Europe,” said Mancel.

He added that those who will watch the Games will also have an opportunity to get to know the country, and Azerbaijan will become a pleasant discovery for them.

Baku 2015 is the first ever European Games, an exciting and innovative multi-sport event for the continent which will take place on June 12-28, 2015.

There will be a total of 20 sports at Baku 2015: 16 Olympic sports and four non-Olympic sports. More than 6,000 athletes from across Europe will be representing their nations over 17 days of competition.

Baku was awarded the games by the European Olympic Committees (EOC) in December 2012.
