The US and Britain are concerned about the use of force at a rally in Yerevan
The Embassy of United States and the United Kingdom in Armenia expressed their concern about the use of force to disperse protesters in Yerevan, AzVision.az reports quoting R?A Novosti.
“Freedom of speech and meetings are fundamental rights of democracy, and we were pleased to see that both sides act respecting the law and refrain from tension. However, we are concerned about the use of disproportionate force to disperse the demonstrators, as well as violence in police stations morning of June 23, “- said in a statement.

The embassy also urged the Armenian authorities to conduct a “complete and transparent investigation into the allegations of disproportionate force”.

A similar statement was made and the British Embassy. “In Yerevan, a peaceful protest in the morning on June 23 ended with violence – the detention of many people, including journalists. Many think how you can avoid all of this. We are particularly concerned about the information on the use of force against journalists, intentional damage and confiscation of their Equipment: information disseminated on existing police persons in civilian clothes, the use of disproportionate force against those who do not obey the drive, “- said in a statement.

The British Embassy has urged the authorities to immediately under the law to take appropriate action.

Recall that on early Tuesday morning, the police dispersed the demonstration by using water cannon, and detained many activists and journalists. As a result of the clash, eighteen people sought medical assistance in hospitals, and 237 people were detained. A criminal case on charges of hooliganism has been launched.
