Russia’s Lavrov says Karabakh issue ‘priority’ in co-op with Turkey

The Nagorno-Karabakh issue is a priority in Russian-Turkish cooperation, said Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.

Speaking at the 8th meeting of the Joint Russian-Turkish Strategic Planning Group in Sochi, Lavrov said despite the COVID-19 pandemic the two countries’ leaders have been in close contact.

The minister said Presidents Vladimir Putin and Recep Tayyip Erdogan met three times this year and once within the Astana summit held via videoconferencing.

Lavrov noted that the 8th meeting of the Joint Russian-Turkish Strategic Planning Group has a very rich international agenda.

“The agenda includes issues relating to the Astana format for the settlement of the Syrian conflict, bilateral cooperation in Libya and the Nagorno-Karabakh issue, which has now become a priority,” he added.
