“The meetings of President Ilham Aliyev with the President of the European Council Charles Michel and NATO Secretary- General Jens Stoltenberg in Brussels and the statements made by the leaders of the leading international organizations overlap with the results of the Second Karabakh War and Azerbaijan's national interests,” Azerbaijani MP Azay Guliyev said, AzVision.az reports.

“One of the first points to note is that Charles Michel stated the importance of the implementation of the trilateral statements by showing a complex approach to the statements. It means that Brussels does not support Armenia’s attempts to violate the statements or to involve the side which meets their needs in the region as a mediator,” Guliyev added.

Secondly, Charles Michel did not use the word "Nagorno-Karabakh conflict" and did not refer to the OSCE Minsk Group in the process of normalization of Armenian-Azerbaijani relations. On the contrary, Charles Michel underlined the importance of signing a peace agreement between Azerbaijan and Armenia, which was proposed by Azerbaijan. It shows that the EU accepts the new reality created in the region and respects Azerbaijan's determined position and principled policy regarding this issue.

Thirdly, President Aliyev clearly showed Azerbaijan's position regarding the Zangazur Corridor and stated that Zangazur and Lachin corridors must be granted the same status.

"In the background of all, the appointment of an experienced diplomat, former ambassador to US Sardar Kilic as special envoy to normalize relations with Armenia by Turkey and coordination of the normalization process with Azerbaijan points to the launch of new initiatives in the South Caucasus. All these recent changes are based on Azerbaijan's interests and scenario. I hope that we will be able to see concrete results in the near future," MP added.
