EU can provide visa-free entry to Turkish citizens
The EU can provide Turkish citizens a visa-free entry if Ankara accepts a number of conditions of Brussels, a diplomatic source in the Belgian capital told RIA Novosti news agency Oct.5.
”The EU may allow a visa-free entry for Turkish citizens, but instead it demands that Turkey and Greece hold joint patrolling of the eastern part of the Aegean Sea, as well as the opening and management of six centers for the reception and registration of refugees in Turkey by the EU,” said the source.

The source said that this topic is expected to be discussed by the heads of EU institutions with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who started a two-day state visit to Belgium Oct.5.

Ankara filed the application for EU membership in 1987, but negotiations on accession to the union started only in 2005.

Since then, the parties agreed on 14 technical points out of 35 that Ankara must fulfill in order to achieve the standards required for EU membership. Another 17 points remain blocked, while negotiations on 4 points continue.
