This award is traditionally presented to the persons and organizations fighting for peace and tranquility in the world. Parliaments and governments, as well as members of the international court, university administrators, professors of social sciences, history, philosophy, law and theology, research institutes and others have the right to make proposals for the award. Institutes and associations may be also awarded with the Nobel Prize.
