Armenia to hold constitutional referendum
Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan signed a decree to hold a referendum on amendments to the Constitution of Armenia on December 6.

On Monday the parliament of Armenia approved the draft constitutional reforms envisaging the factual shift to a parliamentary system of government with the majority of votes.

In line with the draft, the Armenian president will be elected not for five but seven years and not through direct elections but by parliamentarians and elected representatives of the local self-government bodies. The Armenian president cannot be a member of any party and cannot be elected for more than once.
